WDNR NOTIFICATION

Drinking water regulations contain requirements for water systems to notify their WDNR representative depending on the situation and the type of treatment the system uses (Chapter NR 809 Subchapter VII, W.A.C.).

WDNR notifications need to be made by all water systems, and can be broken down by reporting periods:

  • As soon as possible, but no later than the end of the business day:
    • The occurrence of any waterborne disease outbreak potentially attributed to the water system
    • The results of an unsafe water sample from any certified lab other than the State Lab of Hygiene
  • Within 24 hours:
    • The failure to comply with any MCL, TTR, or monitoring requirement, except when otherwise specified in the code.
  • Within 10 days of the end of the month
    • The results of any monitoring received within that month

In addition to the above requirements, OTM systems that have groundwater as their water source and pump more than 70 gallons per minute have the following additional reporting obligations:

  • Within 10-days of the end of a monitoring period:
    • A monthly report including the total monthly pumpage, static and pumping groundwater depth, and any other information on chemical addition (if applicable).
    • The results of any monitoring done within that period
