Local Conservation Club of the Year Award
The Willow River Rod and Gun Club [exit DNR] of St. Croix County received the Outstanding Local Conservation Club Award. This 372 member club sponsors Hunter, Bow Hunter, and Trapper Education classes, provides a location for law enforcement to shoot and train, and provides firearms and archery shooting sports opportunities for youth and adults. In the past year, the club has also stocked trout, built fish cribs, conducted pheasant and duck surveys, and maintained wood duck and bluebird houses. In addition, the group sends youths to environmental camps, donates to the fund raising of many other local conservation groups, and maintains a club website to keep members informed on conservation matters.
