Comment on Administrative Rules
The Wisconsin DNR creates and revises administrative rules and regulations to implement statutes enacted by the Legislature [exit DNR]. Administrative rules and regulations have the full force and effect of law.
Public Involvement
Public participation in agency rulemaking is a critical component of state government. We value your involvement in the Wisconsin DNR's rulemaking activities. After you set up your Wisconsin user identification number, you can provide comments using the Administrative Rules [exit DNR] Web site. This site will make it easy for you to participate in rulemaking and subscribe to receive e-mail updates on proposed rulemaking.
All DNR administrative rules are included in the Administrative Rules System. The DNR programs with extensive rulemaking activities have additional information available. Programs with limited rulemaking use the Administrative Rules System only.
Wisconsin User ID
Before your comments can be accepted, you must first register with the state, because public comments on proposed administrative rules are official state records. Obtaining a Wisconsin User ID [exit DNR] is fast and easy. You may view rules and related documents without having a Wisconsin User ID.
Searchable Database
The Administrative Rules Web site has a searchable database. From the Administrative Rules Web site you will be able to:
- Search for Natural Resources rules by using various key words such as "NR", "Hunting", or "Waters"
- View the status of current rulemaking
- View documents associated with rulemaking
- Submit and view comments on proposed rules
- Subscribe to receive notification of rulemaking activity
