Barker Creek Extensive Wildlife Habitat Area is a 74 acre property of predominantly shrub and sedge/cattail marsh with surrounding grass fields and scattered areas of aspen. Find it by going north of Barron in Barron County on Hwy 25 for 3 miles. Turn east on 17th Ave and go 2 1/4 miles. The property is on the north side of the road.

History of Management

The property was purchased through the Extensive Wildlife Habitat Area (EWHA) program for waterfowl management. Prairie grasses are planted on the adjacent fields. These fields are periodically burned to maintain waterfowl and upland bird nesting habitat. A few ponds were dug for waterfowl.
