History of Management

In 1948 the first of the land was purchased by the state with the intent of managing for deer yard habitat. By the late 50’s most of the land acquisition was complete and deer yard management efforts ceased as deer did not yard on the property. Since then the property has been managed primarily for forest game species and associated habitat types. A portion of the property is managed with prescribed fires to maintain pine/oak barrens habitat. A series of two rut roads and firebreaks provide access to the property.
