Sandhill Antlerless Deer Hunt for General Public

The antlerless deer hunts are conducted by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources to reduce the deer herd living on the Sandhill Wildlife Area. Sandhill Wildlife Area’s managed deer hunts help keep the deer herd from increasing and damaging forest vegetation that the deer and other forest dwellers depend on for survival. Based on the annual deer herd numbers at Sandhill, wildlife biologists determine if there will be a special antlerless deer hunt for the year. Antlerless gun deer seasons are held nearly every November. Applications are available by mid-March.

There will not be a Sandhill antlerless hunt this year. Our densities are below goal.
