Baiting and Feeding Regulations

2003 Wisconsin Act 240 [PDF 7.8KB] extended the Department of Natural Resources’ authority to regulate the feeding of wildlife for non-hunting purposes, required that the DNR ban baiting and feeding for deer in counties at highest risk for disease transmission, and established standards for the baiting and feeding of deer outside these banned areas. This website was created to help the deer and bear hunter, as well as the recreational wildlife feeder to better understand the parameters established by Act 240 and the DNR rules [PDF 169KB] that were implemented to help reduce the risk of Chronic Wasting Disease and Bovine Tuberculosis in Wisconsin.
