In exchange for their stay on a beautiful wooded campsite, hosts greet new visitors, hand out literature, answer questions about the property and local area, share camping experiences, assist campers as needed and do minor maintenance (like picking up litter around the campgrounds, cleaning fire rings, and cleaning vault toilets). The "Third Thursday Nine Springs Prairie Project" is a group of volunteers working on a prairie restoration in Capital Springs State Recreation Area. They are cutting with hand tools, hauling, and stacking brush. A picnic meal often is provided. Bring yourself, friends and family. Children are welcome and encouraged to come.
