Accessibility at Whitefish Dunes

Whitefish Dunes State Park strives to make our facilities available to all park visitors. Buildings, trails, and other facilities are built to accommodate visitors with a variety of abilities.

WheelChair Access in Beach

A specially adapted chair and plastic grid system ease travel on the beach and into shallow water.

We've installed a plastic grid system to make the Whitefish Dunes beach accessible for wheelchairs, and to make walking on the sand easier for everyone. A beach wheelchair is available at the nature center for park visitor use.

The grid extends a long way on the beach.

Our Nature Center and Picnic Shelter buildings are accessible to visitors in wheelchairs. Adults and children of all ability levels can see and use the exhibits.

Our self-guided nature trail, the Brachiopod Trail, is available for visitors using wheelchairs, although some may need assistance to complete the mile and half loop.

We are always interested in improving our facilities to better serve our visitors. If you have a suggestion, please share it with us!
