Peninsula is Wisconsin’s most popular camping destination and reservations are strongly recommended.

You can reserve a site 48 hours to 11 months before the date of arrival. For availability and rates, including reservation fees, call toll free at (888) WI-PARKS ((888) 947-2757, TTY (800) 274-7275). Call center hours vary. You also may make reservations via the Internet 24 hours a day.

Campgrounds

Peninsula’s five campgrounds (Weborg Point, Tennison Bay, Welcker's Point, North Nicolet Bay, and South Nicolet Bay) have a total of 468 family sites; 101 are electric. Peninsula also has three reservable group areas for tent camping. Only 25 sites, (South Nicolet Bay sites 804-828), are non-reservable. Camping fees help support campground maintenance.

Admission stickers are required on all vehicles. Purchase vehicle stickers at Park Headquarters or state park contact stations.

Avoid poison ivy and wild parsnip by learning how to identify each. Visit the Nature Center or look at the park newspaper, the Visitor, for identification tips. The Visitor also lists local medical clinics if campers require treatment. More tips: Stay on trails, and restrict activities (dogs included) to the campsite boundaries. Proper footwear is essential.

Assistance and Information

Information and assistance to campers is available from camp hosts who are assigned to Peninsula campgrounds throughout the season. Locate hosts at sites 323, 525, 619 or 783. To volunteer as a camp host in the Wisconsin State Park System use the volunteer application, also available at Peninsula Headquarters.

Camp hosts report problems to Peninsula Rangers (law enforcement officers). Rangers are fully certified and trained in emergency first aid. They patrol Peninsula seven days a week, enforcing safety rules and responding to accidents. Feel free to approach rangers with your questions and concerns.

Boat and Bike Rentals

Nicolet Beach Concession rents canoes, kayaks, bicycles, tandems and tagalongs. Rentals are seasonal and weather dependent. Phone (920) 854-9220.

Church Services

Worship schedules are available at Park Headquarters. Interdenominational services are held outdoors at the park amphitheater at 11 a.m. Sundays, from late June through August.

Firewood

Alert! Only firewood cut in Wisconsin within 50 miles of the park is allowed in Wisconsin State Parks.This rule is aimed at stopping the spread of emerald ash borer and other forest pests. Firewood is available at the wood yard on Bluff Road for $5.50 a bundle. Hours are:

  • May 1 to Memorial Day; Fridays and Saturdays, 5-7 p.m. Sunday-Thursday, 6-7 p.m.
  • Memorial Day to Labor Day; Fridays and Saturdays, 4-8 p.m. Sunday-Thursday, 4-7 p.m.
  • Labor Day to mid-October; Daily, 4-6 p.m.

Firewood is also available at local businesses outside the park.

Groceries and Ice

The Camp Store at Nicolet Beach has essential supplies, souvenirs and ice. The Snack Bar, open during the summer, features pizza, burgers and soft-serve ice cream. (920) 854-4486.

Water

All Peninsula wells are rigorously tested as required by law. Bottled water is available at the Camp Store and at businesses located outside park boundaries. Be considerate of fellow campers by disposing of all gray water from your RV in the trailer dumping station on Bluff Road.
