Friends of Kohler-Andrae
An Invitation to Membership
The Friends of Kohler-Andrae Association is a non-profit
support organization of interested persons from all backgrounds dedicated
to furthering the interpretive, educational, and visitor service programs
of the park.
Kohler-Andrae
State Park has a long history of citizen support beginning in 1928 with
the donation of property to create Terry Andrae State Park, and again
in 1966 with a second donation creating J.M. Kohler State Park. The two
parks now total almost 1,000 acres and are managed as one unit by the
Department of Natural Resources. The Friends of Kohler-Andrae, established
in 1987, continues this historical and vital link joining private and
state efforts towards a common goal.
The friends group is seeking donations towards the $124,000 cost
of building a campground cabin
for people with physical disabilities and special needs at
Kohler-Andrae. The friends group also is seeking funds from the
Knowles-Nelson Stewardship program that provides state development
funding through a 50/50 match grant to state park and forest friends
organizations.
