Recreational Trails
Hartman Creek State Park
Hiking
Hikers have about 10 miles of varied trails to choose from at Hartman
Creek State Park:
- The Deer Path Trail, a 1-mile loop trail around Allen Lake,
is especially scenic, offering a wonderful view of wildlife and the
springs that supply all of the water to this lake.
- Pope Lake Trail (1 mile) circles a pine plantation and is relatively
flat.
- The Windfeldt Trail is approximately 2 miles long and more
open, going through parts of old orchard area and oak forest.
- The most extensive hiking trail is the Oak Ridge System, 4.87
miles total.
- Hartman Creek State Park also includes 3 miles of hiking on the 15-mile
Ice
Age Trail segment, crossing through
Waupaca and Portage counties.
- The Dike Trail is 1 mile long and crosses a narrow strip of
land between Mid and Hartman lakes.
Off-road Bike Trails
There are about 5 miles of off-road biking trails in the park which are
combination hiking/biking segments. These trails are not paved. Trail
passes are required for users 16 years of age and older.
Horse Trails
The park's bridle trails are only a few years old and offer nearly 7
miles of scenic trail through forest, prairie and along Allen Creek. Equestrians
age 16 and older must have a daily or annual trail
pass to use trails within the park.
