Lake Kegonsa State Park Conditions
Conditions as of Wednesday, February 8, 2012:
Trails
All trails are open to hiking, but may be icy in areas. Please use caution.
When the cross-country ski trails are snow-covered and groomed, hiking and pets are not allowed on the ski trails.
Events
The Candlelight Ski scheduled for Saturday, February 11, 2012 has been cancelled due to icy conditions.
Lake
All piers have been removed from the lake for the season. There is no ATV or snowmobile access to Lake Kegonsa from the park. The ice at the boat landing stays thin all winter due to the river outlet. There is foot access to the lake at the beach.
Camping
The campground, dump station and shower building are closed for the season and will re-open in May 2012.
To reserve a campsite for dates May through October, call (888) 947-2757, TTY (800) 274-7275 or use the Web. Reservations for weekends are highly recommended. Please note the camping rules.
Firewood Notice: Due to the potential of carrying harmful tree pests and diseases, firewood from out of state or from more than 25 miles away is not allowed on Wisconsin State Park or Forest properties. Also, firewood that has been in the Wisconsin emerald ash borer quarantined area [PDF 102KB] is not allowed on properties outside of the quarantined area. Please buy firewood at or near the park or forest where you are going. Call the DNR toll-free Firewood Hotline, (877) 303-WOOD ((877) 303-9663) for information before packing for a trip.
More Information
Annual park stickers for 2012 are available now and are valid from the date of purchase through December 31, 2012. Stickers can be purchased from park staff when the office is open, or at the self-registration station when the office is closed. All stickers purchased through the self-registration station will be mailed within 2 -3 days. Office hours are irregular this time of year.
