Interstate State Park Conditions

Conditions as of Friday, February 22, 2008:

Cross-country ski trails are groomed and in very good condition.

The main road in the park is open. The road is plowed to the St. Croix River and provides an excellent opportunity for park visitors to watch wildlife from the comfort of their vehicles. White tailed deer, bald eagles and the tracks of many other animals are easily observed.

Primitive winter camping is available.

To reserve a campsite for dates May 1, 2008, through 11 months from today, use the Web or call the toll-free statewide campsite reservation number, (888) 947-2757.

To prevent the spread of forest pests and diseases, only campfire wood from Wisconsin and within a 50-mile radius is permitted in the park. Firewood and ice are available for purchase when the Ice Age Center is open.

Events and Programs

Most programs are free of charge, however a park sticker is required to enter the park. For more information about the programs, call Julie at (715) 483-3747.

Thursdays Through March 2008

Nature Storytime. Join Naturalist Julie Fox every Thursday through March for a story and activity chosen especially for children pre-K through Kindergarten and their parents. Storytime generally lasts between 30 and 45 minutes. Parents should bring their children dressed to spend some time outdoors. The short activity following the story will reinforce the story's nature-related theme. Programs begin at 10 a.m. in the Ice Age Center.
