Council Grounds State Park ConditionsConditions as of Friday, July 18, 2008: Hiking trails are in good condition. The mosquitoes are plentiful in the park; please come prepared with repellents. Many visitors our enjoying the cool waters at the beach. Perch, walleye and small mouth bass are being caught on Lake Alexander. A sow bear and her three cubs have been sighted throughout the park as well as a red fox with her young. Candlelight hikes are scheduled for the fall of 2008. Please see the events calendar. The Outdoor Group Camp is now open. Call the park for more information, (715) 536-8773. The showers and flush toilets are open and will close for the season on September 15, 2008. They will re-open in the spring of 2009. The shelter house road has been made a one-way road. Please observe this traffic sign and all others in the park. Visitors are welcome to park at the contact station, until the contact station opens, but you must have a Wisconsin State Parks admission sticker. You can buy stickers at the self-registration box on the flagpole. Thank you for your cooperation.
