Conditions as of Wednesday, March 18, 2009:

Maple syrup season is in full swing in the area, a sure sign of spring. Canadian Geese have also been seen flying over the area.

TrailsRecent warm weather has closed the ski trails for the season. People are beginning to walk to Copper and Brownstone Falls as the water levels are on the rise and the ice has broken up on the Bad River. The next few weeks will be an excellent time to view the falls.

Pet owners are reminded that pets must be leashed at all times.

Camping—Sites 1 through 5 remain open. If you prefer camping when the weather is a little warmer, you can reserve a site now for dates from mid-April 2009 through 11 months from today. Make your reservation online or by calling (888) 947-2757.

Check regulations regarding transporting firewood. Firewood originating from beyond 50 miles of the park is prohibited.

Rivers and LakesSee the U.S. Geological Survey's page about the river [exit DNR] for provisional data about stream discharge, water level, precipitation, and water quality at Elm Hoist Road downstream from the state park.
