Good weather is predicted for this Fourth of July weekend. Temperatures are forecast be in the 70's (mid 50's at night) with sunny skies. The park shoreline near the picnic area is a good place to view the fireworks set off at Sunset Park in the city of Sturgeon Bay. Fireworks are scheduled to begin at dusk on Saturday, July 4.

Trails

All hiking and off-road biking trails are open and in good condition.

A 75-foot observation tower on a 150-foot bluff in the north area of the park offers a bird's-eye view of the surrounding waters and islands.

Fishing

Two launch ramps are in the water at Sawyer Harbor to accommodate boaters and fishermen. An accessible fishing pier is located on the south shoreline of the park in the picnic area. The fish cleaning station is available at the boat launch area for lucky fishermen.

Camping

The campgrounds, sanitary dump station, and shower building are open for the season. The shower building is in the middle of the family campground. Campers may use the fill and dump station near the park office.

Potawatomi has 123 family sites and 4 group sites available for campers. Forty of the family sites have electricity. Each group site can accommodate up to 30 campers. Two of the group sites can accommodate trailers and motor homes and the other two sites are for tent campers. The group sites are non-electric.

Sites may be reserved for dates up to 11 months in advanced. We also have 22 first-come, first-served sites (non-electric).
