Whitefish Dunes State Park
From Plant to Cord

Rope, or cordage, was used in many different ways by native peoples. In this hands-on activity, students will learn to identify native plants that can be used to make cordage, and they will experience the challenges of making rope by hand.

Special Instructions

The program is entirely an outdoor program. Dress in layers because the park is at least 10 -15 degrees cooler than inland temperatures.
Windbreakers are also a suggestion. This program can be combined with People of the Dunes.
