Resources for Educators
The following teaching materials are available for teachers and youth
leaders to borrow. Please call ahead to reserve teaching materials and
to arrange for equipment training (as needed) and pickup.
In Touch with Nature Bucket Tour
A self-guided tour for grades K -2 in which students use their senses
to explore nature. Buckets containing fun games and activities are set
out on the trail and an outline is sent to teachers ahead of time. Often
used in conjunction with a naturalist-led tour.
Watch for Wildlife Bucket Tour
A self-guided tour for grades 3 - 4 in which students explore signs,
homes and habitats of wildlife. Buckets containing fun games and activities
are set out on trail and an outline is sent to teachers ahead of time.
Often used in conjunction with a naturalist-led tour.
Habitat Safari Bucket Tour
A self-guided tour for grades 5 - 7 in which students explore and compare
three different habitats--pond, prairie, and forest. Buckets containing
activities are available and an outline is sent to teachers ahead of time.
Often used in conjunction with a naturalist-led tour.
Forest Park Pack
Discover Wisconsin's forest resources, inhabitants, and how humans interact
with and depend on our forests. Packed with hands-on activities and supplies
enough for a classroom. The pack may be checked out for up to two weeks.
Activities are appropriate for the classroom and for a field trip. Appropriate
for grades 4 and up.
World of the Whitetail Activity Box
Learn about the life and biology of Whitetail Deer. Discover what they
eat, how they live, and how they interact with humans. Trunks are loaded
with hands-on activities and can be checked out for up to two weeks. Activities
are appropriate for classroom or for a field trip. Box is appropriate
for all grade levels.
Compass Set
A set of 30 compasses with a demonstration compass is available for on-property
use. A program outline and game instructions can be sent to teachers ahead
and a compass game can be set up for use. Appropriate for grades 6 and
up.
Loaner Fishing Poles and Tackle
Up to 32 closed-reel fishing poles available. Complete with rod, reel,
hooks, bobbers, sinkers, and practice plugs. You do need to supply your
own bait. Anyone over 16 needs a fishing license. You may check them out
for up to one week for off-property use or use them on property.
