Resources for Educators

The following teaching materials are available for teachers and youth leaders to borrow. Please call ahead to reserve teaching materials and to arrange for equipment training (as needed) and pickup.

Self-Guided Exploration - Insect Adventures

Capture and study insects with kid-sized sweep nets, field guides, and bug cases. Equipment is available for use only at Havenwoods after a short training with our staff.

Self-Guided Explorations - Pond Discovery

"Get wet" in Havenwoods' pond while learning about aquatic life. Equipment includes dip nets, buckets, pond magnifiers, and aquatic insect charts. This equipment is for use only at Havenwoods during the spring and summer. There is enough equipment for a group of 30

Tree Search Eco-Explorer Kits

Discover trees with the 13 exciting activities contained in these shoulder bags. Two kits are available. Each kit contains all the materials needed for 15 kids. The activities are designed for kids 6-12 years old.

Forest Forever Park Packs

Borrow a backpack full of activity cards, books, and teaching materials! The pack focuses on sustainable forestry and is designed for kids 10-14 years old. There is enough equipment for a group of 60.

World of the Whitetail - Deer Boxes

Explore the natural history, ecology, and management of whitetail deer in Wisconsin. These boxes include 24 teaching activities, deer artifacts, and numerous teaching materials. It is designed for classroom use with middle school students.

Animal Footprints

Make animal tracks in the mud with 13 different rubber animal footprints. You can also use them to make plaster casts or to print on paper or fabric.

Wildlife Guides

Search for wildlife using these 8-page booklets. They illustrate tracks and other signs of urban wildlife species. Copy masters are available for grades 2-3 and grades 4-6.

Magnifying Lenses

Take a close-up look at the world with plastic magnifying lenses.

Groundwater Models

Demonstrate how water and toxins move through the ground with an 18- by 24-inch model or a 3- by 5-foot model. A user's guide and lesson plans are available. These models are appropriate for students in grade 5 and up.

Environmental Education Resources

Borrow from our environmental education reference library. It contains an excellent assortment of environmental education curricula, adult reference materials, slide shows, audio tapes, and videos. Teachers and youth leaders can borrow up to five reference materials for up to two weeks.
