Capital City State Trail ConditionsConditions as of Friday, February 4, 2011: The Capital City State Trail is open year-round. The trail is usually plowed within 24 hours of snowfall, but due to the heavy amounts of snow this week, larger equipment will need to brought in to clear the trail. As of this morning, the trail has not been plowed. A volunteer has graciously agreed to plow the Capital City State Trail in the winter. The volunteer also operates his own plowing business, which means in turn the plowing of the trail comes after he has tended to his business. More InformationA state trail pass is required for anyone 16 years of age or older biking, skating, or roller-skiing on the E-way segment. Passes are available at kiosks along the trail or at the Lussier Family Heritage Center. Dane County [exit DNR] subsidizes trail passes for commuters. Restrooms are available in the Capital Springs / Lake Farm Campground and, during business hours, Lussier Family Heritage Center.
