Badger State Trail Current ConditionsConditions as of Monday, February 6, 2012: The Badger State Trail is open for hiking and biking. Users should remember to not use the trail if the surface is soft enough to leave tracks or ruts. The northern paved section of the Badger trail is plowed and open for bicycling, roller-blading/skiing and hiking. For the most up-to-date conditions please call the Green County Trail Information Line, (608) 527-2910. State trail passes are required for bicyclists 16 years and older. Passes may be purchased at self-registration boxes along the trail and at local vendors. New self-registration stations are located at Market Place drive and Purcell road. Pet owners, please be sure to have your pet on a leash, 8 feet or shorter, at all times. You must pick up after your pet. Winter ActivitiesDue to the unseasonably warm daytime temperatures, permission to use ATV's on the Badger State Trail has been limited. For the most up-to-date conditions please call the Green County Trail Information Line, (608) 527-2910. Snowmobiling is permitted when the trail has 4 inches or more (Green County) or 6 inches or more (Dane County) of snow or a groomed base. Snowmobiling is allowed from Purcell Road down to the Illinois state line. Snowmobiles are not permitted North of Purcell Road, in the Stewart Tunnel, or between Monroe and Monticello when the area is open to ATV Use (December 1 to March 15 when specific conditions are present) Check Dane and Green County Club Trail Maps for additional routes. ATV's are allowed from Lake Avenue in Monticello down to 21st Street in Monroe under the following conditions:
