Peninsula State Park ConditionsConditions as of Friday, February 10, 2012: TrailsSnow depth in the park is about two inches with many bare spots due to high winds. There is not enough snow to groom ski trails and snowshoe trails are in poor condition due to lack of snow. Hiking is allowed on all trails in the park at this time. Please be careful as some trails are very icy. The snowmobile trails are still closed. The sledding hill is closed. A state trail pass is required for the ski and mountain bike trails at Peninsula State Park, in addition to a vehicle admission sticker. The annual trail pass is valid on all ski, bike and horse trails in Wisconsin State Parks that require the trail pass for users 16 years and older. White Cedar Nature CenterPeninsula naturalists offer nature programs year-round. Please see the current program schedule for more information or pick-up a program schedule upon your arrival. CampingTennison Bay campground is open year-round for camping. There are about 10 campsites that are kept plowed through the winter. Pit toilets and fresh water is available. The sanitary dump station is closed until May. All other campgrounds are closed for the season. Please Note: A Tennison Bay campground renovation project is planned to begin October 16, 2012. We are currently not accepting reservations for dates beginning October 16 through November 30, 2012. Campsite reservations are strongly recommended to obtain sites in Peninsula's five campgrounds from mid-May through October. Use the Web or phone (888) 947-2757, TTY (800) 274-7275 to reserve a site or check for cancellations for arrival dates 2 days to 11 months in advance. The wood yard is closed for the season but there are places to get firewood in town. Firewood Notice: Due to the potential of carrying harmful tree pests and diseases, firewood from out of state or from more than 25 miles away is not allowed on Wisconsin State Park or Forest properties. Also, firewood that has been in the Wisconsin emerald ash borer quarantined area [PDF 102KB] is not allowed on properties outside of the quarantined area.
