Ecological Priorities ToolThis tool can be used to search the Ecological Priorities identified in the Wisconsin Wildlife Action Plan. Ecological Priorities identify the natural communities (habitats) in each Ecological Landscape that are most important to the Species of Greatest Conservation Need. Three sources of data are used to provide this information: 1) the probability that a species will occur in a given landscape, 2) the degree to which a species is associated with a particular natural community, and 3) the degree to which there are opportunities for sustaining a given natural community in any given Ecological Landscape. To use this tool, you begin by choosing a "starting point" below. For example, if you want to explore priorities for a particular part of the state, you would choose "Ecological Landscapes." To start with a specific habitat / community type choose Natural Communities. Finally, if you have a particular vertebrate species for which you would like to identify Ecological Priorities, choose "Species of Greatest Conservation Need." After you make a choice, you will be given additional options to narrow your search.
