Incidental Take Public Notice:Proposed Tier One Minimal Conservation Sites for Butler's gartersnakeIn February of 2004, the Department requested incidental take authorization for projects that result either in temporary disturbance to suitable habitat for Butler’s gartersnake (Thamnophis butleri) or permanent loss of suitable habitat that provides only minimal conservation value to the overall status and recovery of the snake. Authorization for projects that result in temporary disturbance to suitable Butler’s habitat was finalized on August 3, 2004. This authorization covers projects that occur on sites that are considered of minimal Conservation Value - Tier One Sites - as described in the supporting information below. The Butler's Gartersnake Conservation Strategy focuses conservation on sites of higher conservation value while supporting this authorization for minimal conservation sites - loss of Tier One sites are not expected to have a negative effect on the overall status and recovery of the species. The authorization was finalized on October 6, 2004.
