Animal Mistaken for Cougar

is an excellent example of how fishers can be mistaken for a large black cat.
In fact, they sometimes go by the name "black cat". Male fishers can
be up to 15 lbs or more, and be almost 4ft in length. They are dark brown in
appearance and can appear nearly black.
