River and Stream Narratives of the Upper Chippewa BasinBelow are narrative descriptions for waters for which we have a description on file. Not all waters in the basin are listed below. Badger CreekNo data is available describing the status of Badger Creek though it is listed as Class I trout water. Big Wiegor Creek, 1996The creek is currently listed as a Class III trout stream, yet a 1984 interim progress report evaluating trout stocking efforts (Pratt 1993) states, "the species composition of Big Weirgor Creek suggests the impact of acid precipitation". Burnett Creek, 1996Habitat modification by beaver is chronic and ubiquitous (Pratt 1993). Records show beaver impact has been noted for the Brunet River. Crazy Horse Creek, 1996This creek is not listed as a trout stream. Yet fisheries manager correspondence indicate brook trout were being caught there. Deer Creek, 1996There is documentation indicating Deer Creek has received sediment loads from poorly constructed logging roads, a problem which is likely to be more widespread. Habitat has been modified by beaver on the creek (Pratt 1993). The Wisconsin Trout Stream Book lists the creek as Class I trout waters, but the local fisheries manager believes it should be reclassified to Class II. Hay Creek No. 2, 1996Habitat modification by beaver is chronic and ubiquitous (Pratt 1993). Records show beaver impact has been noted for Hay Creek (#2). Hogsback Creek, 1996Habitat modification by beaver is chronic and ubiquitous (Pratt 1993). Records show beaver impact has been noted for Hogsback Creek. King Creek, 1996Habitat modification by beaver is chronic and ubiquitous (Pratt 1993). Records show beaver impact has been noted for King Creek. Knapp Stout Creek/h5>Habitat modification by beaver is chronic and ubiquitous (Pratt 1993). Records show beaver impact has been noted for Knapp Stout Creek. Little Weirgor CreekThe Wisconsin Trout Stream Book lists a section of Little Weirgor Creek as Class I trout waters, but the local fish manager believes it should be retlassified to Class II. Spring Creek (Creek S4-15 - Big Weirgor Creek Trib)Habitat modification by beaver is chronic and ubiquitous (Pratt 1993). Records show beaver impact has been noted for Spring Creek. Swan CreekNo data is available describing the status of Swan Creek though it is listed as Class I trout water. Last Revised: Thursday March 06 2008
