2189200 Monson Flowage 1970 Source: 1970, Surface Water Resources of Taylor County Monson Flowage, T33N, R4W, Section 34 A soft water, drainage impoundment located on an unnamed feeder stream to Shoulder Creek. The estimated normal outlet flow is 1.0 cubic foot per second. This impoundment is located in the Pershing Wildlife Area. It was built by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources for the management of waterfowl and other wildlife. The shoreline vegetation is approximately 80 percent upland hardwood and 20 percent upland grass. The littoral bottom material is 70 percent muck, and 30 percent sand. Due to its shallow depth and abundant plant growth, winterkill occurs occasionally. The fish population is limited to forage minnows. Approximately 149 acres of adjoining wetlands provide a habitat for furbearers, as well as, waterfowl. Migratory waterfowl use is heavy, and mallards, blue-winged teal, and wood ducks use the lakeshore for nesting. There is an access site on the northwest shore. Public frontage amounts to 1.36 miles of the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources land. There is no residential development. 2182800 Waterfowl Flowage (Redman) 1970 Source: 1970, Surface Water Resources of Taylor County Redman Flowage, T32N, R4W, Section 3 Surface Acres = 40.0, Maximum Depth = 7 feet, M.P.A. = 54 ppm, Secchi Disk = 3 feet A hard water, drainage impoundment, having neutral, medium brown water, with an intermittent outlet to the Fisher River. This impoundment is located in the Pershing Wildlife Area. It was built and is managed by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources for the purpose of creating a managed area for wildlife, mainly waterfowl. There is a nine-foot dike at the outlet. Annual winterkills occur here, thus limiting the fish population to minnows. The shoreline vegetation is approximately 50 percent upland hardwood and 50 percent tag alder swamp. The littoral zone is entirely muck bottomed, and supports an abundance of aquatic plants. Muskrat and beaver use is common. Waterfowl use is heavy. Mallards, blue-winged teal, and wood ducks use the shoreline for nesting. Public access with parking is available. There is no residential development on this impoundment.
