As watershed basin team leader, responsible for day-to-day administration and management of the state watershed programs in the Sheboygan Basin. Works with the public, local officials and agencies on watershed issues and help determine natural resource priorities in the Sheboygan Basin. Serves on the Board of the Sheboygan River Basin Partnership. Implements Sheboygan River Basin work plan and evaluates progress on annual objectives. Represents DNR Southeast Region on the Management, Monitoring, Water Evaluation and Contaminated Sediment Program Management Team. Regional representative to DNR’s Office of Great Lakes. Directly supervises Ken Denow, Kathi Kramasz, Steve Galarneau, Curt Nickels, Marsha Burzynski, Brent Binder, and John Masterson. |

Responsible for approval and monitoring of land application sites/systems for industrial liquid wastes, by-product solids, and sludge land treatment systems in the eight counties of Southeast Region.
Also responsible for approval of sites and monitoring land application of domestic sewage sludge in the Southeast Region. |

Responsible for all municipal wastewater treatment plants, industrial discharges, pretreatment (for discharges to major wastewater treatment plants that are control authorities), and industrial storm water that discharge to surface waters in the Sheboygan Basin. Issues General and Specific WPDES Permits, monitor and review permit compliance, initiate wastewater enforcement, and sets categorical effluent standards. Drafts Specific WPDES Permits. Responds to all wastewater issues throughout the Sheboygan Basin. |

Design and conduct water quality monitoring projects related to stream classification, point and nonpoint source pollution, impaired waters, TMDLs and contaminated sediment. Manage the Water Resource's technical review of the Sheboygan River Superfund Project. Provide technical assistance to regulatory programs including Water Regulation and Zoning, Environmental Enforcement, Solid and Hazardous Waste, Wastewater and Environmental Assessment. Classifies streams according to their potential biological uses. Serves on several Statewide DNR Teams for Monitoring and Contaminated Sediment. |

Responsible for designing and conducting stream and lake monitoring of aquatic habitat and biological communities to access status of fish and aquatic life potential and water quality conditions. Coordinates and manages the Aquatic Plant Management and Lake Self-Help Programs. Provides technical assistance to interagency regulatory programs for water resources review. Serves as River Coordinator for the Southeast Region River Protection Grant Program. Assists with water monitoring on Lake Michigan. |

Provides oversight and technical assistance to municipal and county floodplain staff on implementation of Federal and State Floodplain regulations. Reviews proposed changes to 100-year floodplains and determines affect of proposed floodplain fills. Reviews and approves floodplain analysis and studies. Assists staff specialists during engineering review of water regulation permit applications including slope stability analysis. Conducts inspections of dams and determines compliance with state dam safety regulations |

Investigates and processes water regulation permit applications for shore protection, structure placement, bridges and culverts, ponds, bank grading, dredging, channel relocation, irrigation and diversion, and to otherwise place structures in or alter the beds of lakes and streams. Also reviews and takes action on requests for water quality certification to impact wetlands. Provides oversight of County shoreland zoning regulations. Responsible for Sheboygan and Ozaukee Counties. |
