Science Services Support: Laboratory Services

The Science Services Bureau supports statewide and national laboratories in a variety of ways.

The Laboratory Certification Program certifies and registers laboratories to perform soil, water, and waste testing for many DNR environmental programs. Certified and registered laboratories must meet all the criteria outlined in Ch. NR 149 Wisconsin Administrative Code [exit DNR]. The certification and registration program ensures that laboratories have the appropiate systems in place to generate reliable data.

The function of the Laboratory Services component is to provide laboratory services to all DNR staff. This includes setting up contracts for service, providing contract status, obtaining new services, consulting with DNR and State Laboratory of Hygiene [exit DNR] staff, and resolving laboratory service problems.
