Science Services

The Science Services Bureau, as the name implies, provides expertise for science-based decision-making through many different and unique ways. Our program outcomes include knowledge, methods, and new technologies that enable solutions to critical environmental problems.

The work conducted by Science Services helps ensure sound science-based decisions for both resource management and environmental quality programs, and ultimately, for human health and the environment.

One way Science Services supports the DNR is to develop and work on various research projects to help solve problems releated to our natural resources. Now Available. Science Services´ most recent Biennial Report.

In addition to providing research expertise, Science Services provides a variety of supporting services that manages much of its own infrastructure statewide.

Programs managed by Science Services include:

  1. the Operator Certification Program,
  2. developing environmental impact statements,
  3. energy & utility projects, and
  4. addressing one of the most important long-term environmental issues— Land Use Management.

The bureau also produces a wealth of publications that provide information to the public, rapidly transfer new knowledge to the field, and to make readily available the necessary knowledge for sound management decisions.
