Federal Clean Vessel Act(Section 5604 of the Clean Vessel Act of 1992) The Clean Vessel Act (CVA) Program is a nationwide competitive Federal grant program that provides funds to states as part of an effort to clean up the nation's waterways. The program has received approximately $10 million annually. Funding for the CVA program comes from the Federal Sport Fish Restoration Account of the Aquatic Resources Trust Fund. The CVA encourages states to subcontract with private marinas/businesses, as well as local units of government to construct projects. Eligible projects include:

In Wisconsin, the Regional Community Services Specialist works with private marinas/businesses and local units of government to identify potential projects. Potential project proposals are sent to the DNR central office for submittal to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS). The FWS is responsible for reviewing, evaluating, and selecting projects. Any private marina/business or local unit of government that is interested in applying for CVA funds should contact their Regional Community Services Specialist.
