- DNR Environmental Protection: A wide variety of environmental protection programs are offered by the DNR. Topics include: air, environmental clean-up, financial assistance, gateway to Wisconsin's basins, land, law enforcement, performance partnership, regulation and licensing, waste, and water.
- Solid and Hazardous Waste Education Center (SHWEC): The UW-Extension Solid and Hazardous Waste Education Center (SHWEC) was created to provide waste reduction services to waste generators in Wisconsin. SHWEC specialists work in collaboration with county extension agents to:
- Improve compliance with environmental regulations.
- Promote the benefits of source reduction, recycling and pollution prevention strategies.
- Encourage municipal integrated solid waste planning and implementation.
- Support utilization of recycled materials and compost.
- Provide solid & hazardous waste educational support to state agencies, local governments, and other organizations.
- Dept. of Administration Document Sales: The Document Sales and Distribution Section resides in the Wisconsin Department of Administration, a state government agency having broad responsibility for operations of the state of Wisconsin. Through legislation, the Section is recognized as the authorized distributor of legislative and other official documents, and provides sales and distribution services of selected products for government agencies.

- Department of Administration, Division of Energy: The DOE administers programs that support energy efficiency, renewable energy use and low-income household assistance statewide. Search their information clearinghouse and learn more about Wisconsin's energy policy, statistics, and comprehensive energy plans.
- Energy Center of Wisconsin: ECW is a private, nonprofit organization that sponsors energy-efficiency projects in residences, businesses and government and offers educational resources including an online energy-related journal and report search.
- Public Service Commission of Wisconsin: The PSC regulates Wisconsin public utilities, including electric, natural gas, telephone, water, and sewer services. Search the site by utility-type for news, information on facility development, and much more.

- National Environmental Assistance Center (PNEAC): EPA's Office of Enforcement and Compliance Assurance and Pollution Prevention Policy Staff have partnered with industry and environmental experts to develop this environmental assistance center for the printing industry which includes compliance assistance and P2 information. This is a communications-based center linking trade, governmental, and university service providers to efficiently provide the most current and complete compliance assistance and pollution prevention information to the printing industry. The project's staff are located within the partnering organizations. The Great Lakes Information Network is providing support for the two Internet Listservers.

- Alliance for Environmental Technology (AET): AET is an international alliance of chemical manufacturers and forest products companies dedicated to advancing the environmental performance of pulp and paper manufacturing. Information includes online fact sheets, news releases, scientific studies, and more.
Solvents
- SAGE (Solvent Alternatives Guide): (US Environmental Protection Agency) SAGE provides information on solvent and process alternatives for parts cleaning and degreasing. It includes a listing of existing and new cleaning technologies, ideas for minimizing waste, and a process conversion checklist.
ISO 14000

- 3M (Environmental News): (3M Company) The giant Minnesotan manufacturer is involved with the aforementioned XL project. The site comments on the success of the XL project on their environmental section of the web site. It also explores how a leader in the industry intends to implement ISO 14000.
- American National Standards Institute (ANSI): This is the address of the ISO 14000 page of the American national Standards Institute (ANSI). This ANSI site contains official and technical information, as well as a FAQ on ISO 14000. ANSI serves as administrator and coordinator of the United States private sector voluntary standardization system. You may order official published ISO 14000 documents here or gain electronic access to ISO 14000 via a link from the NSSN to ANSI's Electronic Standards Store or go to thier web site.
- The Answer Center: (Global Network of Environment and Technology: GNET) This professional looking site contains only a bit of ISO 14000 information, however, browsers may find the extensive "upcoming environmental events" calendar valuable. The majority of the site is devoted to environmental technology in general.
- American Society for Quality (ASQ): ASQ is a society of individual and organizational members dedicated to developments in environmental management. This attractive site introduces you to many topics about quality, let's you order from an online catalog, and register for education courses and conferences.
- The Bottom Line (Distributed by the Los Angeles Times Syndicate): This site catalogues over fifty editorials covering a wide range of business/environmental topics. In a left-leaning style, the author discusses how politics and economics entwine around the environment. This well written compilation of articles is a good source for those wishing to dabble in interesting debates; however there is no guarantee that the content is one hundred percent accurate.
- Division of Pollution Prevention and Environmental Assistance (DPPEA), NC DENR: Site has general information and links on ISO 14000 as well as information on North Carolina's ISO 14000 pilot program initiative.
- Environmental Systems Management (EPA)
- ISO 14000: The Next Horizon: (L.A. Times Syndicate) While the opening paragraph may be a bit informal, this two page article sums up what ISO 14000 may mean for businesses wishing to trade in Europe and Japan in the near future. Browsers will enjoy reading about ISO 14000 from this feature style overview.
- ISO 14000 Discussion Group - Overview and Digest: This site provides an overview of the ISO 14000@quality.org discussion group, an active discussion list that has participation by both industry participants and members of the EMS consulting community. - International Organization for Standardization (ISO): The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is a worldwide federation of national standards bodies from 112 countries, one from each country. ISO is a non-governmental organization established in 1947. The mission of ISO is to promote the development of standardization and related activities in the world with a view to facilitating the international exchange of goods and services, and to developing cooperation in the spheres of intellectual, scientific, technological and economic activity. ISO's work results in international agreements that are published as International Standards such as ISO 14000.
- ISO World: (ISO World, a non-profit organization) This site provides general information on ISO 14000. It also provides a start to getting any required training.
- MGMT Alliances: This site looks at the core elements of ISO: environmental policy, planning, implementation and operation, checking and corrective action, and management review. It also provides a breakdown of ISO 14001 elements and challenges, and covers topics relating risk to ISO 14000.
- National Database on Environmental Management Systems
- NGO Working Group on ISO 14000, sponsored by the Community Nutrition Institute (CNI): This project seeks to ensure that environmental NGOs, with national, regional, and local perspectives, are represented in the ISO 14000 standards development process and implementation through the U.S. Technical Advisory Group (TAG) to Technical Committee (TC) 207, the international committee developing the 14000 series of EMS standards. the goal of the NGO Working Group on ISO 14000 is threefold:
- To gain and disseminate information about ISO 14000, its standards development process, and methods of implementation;
- to ensure that the public interest perspective from the national, regional, and local levels are represented in the ISO 14000 standards development process; and
- Create a network to facilitate communication between NGOs working on ISO 14000 and related issues.
- Project XL: (Minnesota Pollution Control Agency) Project XL is a voluntary state and federal pilot program. It supports regulated parties that demonstrate excellence and leadership (XL) in protecting the environment and who are willing to undertake new initiatives that go beyond the existing requirements of state and federal law.
- Standards Information Service of Canada (SCC CA): This site is a gateway to information on standards in Canada and around the world. Regulations relating to the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and World Trade Organization (WTO) are also found here.
- The Wharton Risk Management Review: (University of Pennsylvania) The Wharton School of Business' Risk Management and Decision Processes Center is coordinating the ISO 14000 Roundtable in which the Wisconsin DNR is participating. This site links the work's of a major university's risk management research to ISO 14000 issues.

- Center for Sustainable Systems: (US Environmental Protection Agency; University of Michigan) NPPC collects, develops, and disseminates educational materials on pollution prevention.
- Channel 1 Internet: (Tellus Institute) A non-profit research and consulting organization devoted to resource management and environmental issues. It also includes pollution prevention information on total cost assessment and life-cycle assessment.
- Energy Pollution Prevention Information Clearinghouse: (U.S. Department of Energy) This site's features include federal and state pollution prevention regulations; pollution prevention opportunity assessments; programs to exchange, reuse, or recycle materials; and DOE newsletters and journals.
- Enviro$en$e: (U.S. Environmental Protection Agency) Features include: a pollution prevention forum; Solvent Umbrella, a solvent alternative information guide; ASK EPA, an interactive forum for pollution prevention questions; a directory of federal, state, and local pollution prevention programs; international resources; technical/research development information; and compliance and enforcement information. Industry content guides are also available for some sectors.
- Federation of Environmental Technologists, Inc. (FET): The FET provides updates on environmental issues that impact industry through locally sponsored seminars and training courses, and through its national annual conference. Get meeting information, details about membership, and recent news on the FET website.
- Great Lakes Regional Pollution Prevention Roundtable (GLRPPR): GLRPPR is a professional organization dedicated to promoting information exchange and networking to pollution prevention professionals in the Great Lakes regions of the United States and Canada.
- Joint Service Pollution Prevention Technical Library: (Naval Facilities Engineering Service Center) This site covers a variety of pollution prevention information including an environmental products catalog, pollution equipment book, and a joint service pollution prevention opportunities handbook.
- National Pollution Prevention Roundtable (NPPR): The National Pollution Prevention Roundtable (the Roundtable) is the largest membership organization in the United States devoted solely to pollution prevention (P2). The mission of the Roundtable is to provide a national forum for promoting the development, implementation, and evaluation of efforts to avoid, eliminate, or reduce pollution at the source. This site contains information on regional pollution prevention centers; position papers; federal pollution prevention legislation; pollution prevention yellow pages; and NPPR conferences, workgroups, and partnerships.
- Pacific Northwest Pollution Prevention Research Center: (Pacific Northwest Pollution Prevention Research Center) This site provides information on pollution prevention research activities throughout the U.S. It also includes access to a searchable pollution prevention research projects database, a funding clearinghouse, and back issues of their newsletter.
- Pollution Prevention (P2) Gems: (University of Massachusets' Toxic Use Reduction Institute) This is an internet search tool for those looking for technical and process/materials management on the Web.
- Toxics Use Reduction Institute (TURI): (University of Massachusetts) The TURI was created to promote reduction in the use of toxic chemicals or the generation of toxic by-products in industry and commerce in the state of Massachusetts. It is a multidisciplinary research, education, and technical support center.
- Wisconsin Pollution Partnership (WIP2): This website, The Wisconsin Pollution Partnership (WIP2), is a collaborative effort of Wisconsin's Department of Commerce, Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and UW-Extension. It provides essential information to help companies cost-effectively reduce waste and find innovative ways to move beyond environmental compliance. The site lists news, services, publications, staff contacts, compliance information, and upcoming events from Wisconsin's pollution prevention programs.
