Serigraph Inc. is a privately held screen and sheet fed lithographic printer. It currently operates several plants in West Bend, Wisconsin, and employs 840 people. Their screen printing facilities supply product for the appliance, computer, and electronic markets, generally printing on plastic. Serigraph has realized many accomplishments in recent years, both before enrollment in Green Tier and as Tier 1 participants:
- Since 2000, Serigraph’s biofiltration system has eliminated over 180 tons of VOCs from their emissions.
- 1.5 million pounds of plastic were recycled in 2006.
- Serigraph has a 100 - acre main campus, of which 75 acres are kept natural.
- Improved reclamation processes reduced their water consumption by 65%.
- Serigraph will expand upon these past successes and will identify additional areas for environmental improvement by utilizing their Environmental Management System.
In addition, one Serigraph facility has submitted a letter of intent to negotiate a Tier 2 Green Tier contract. Proposed goals for the facility under the contract include:
- Minimize waste and increase recycling
- Minimize solvent usage
- Reduce electrical consumption
- Restoration and maintenance of on-site prairie
- Reduce water usage
- Convert to UV inks to further reduce VOCs
