Plastic Ingenuity, Inc.
Green Tier - Tier 1 Participant

Plastic Ingenuity, Inc.(PI) of Dane County, WI, has provided thermoformed custom packaging and extrusion services since 1972. Their Cross Plains facility is located on the bank of Black Earth Creek, a designated Class 1 Trout Stream. For the past 10 years PI has been proactive in implementing numerous stormwater best management practices to reduce their impacts on Black Earth Creek. PI constructed their Mazomanie facility in 2000. Although located more than 900 feet from Black Earth Creek, PI instituted stormwater best management practices to reduce the temperature of stormwater that eventually recharges Black Earth Creek. PI has reduced their environmental footprint through energy conservation projects, reducing hazardous waste generation, active recycling of scrap material, and filtering emissions from their thermoforming and extrusion processes, eliminating their need for air permits. PI is in the process of developing an Environmental Management System that will be the foundation of PI’s superior environmental performance, and their participation in Green Tier will further solidify this important aspect of the company’s culture.
