Green Tier - Tier 2 Applicant

Phillips Plastics Corporation®, Phillips Automotive, (formerly known as Precision Decorating) is located in Medford, Wisconsin. It is a state-of-the-art plastics injection molding facility that laser etches, paints and assembles plastic parts and components for a number of different markets with a primary focus on domestic automotive. This facility is currently a Tier 1 Green Tier participant and is seeking Tier 2 status. Phillips Automotive has sustained certification of an Environmental Management System (EMS) to ISO 14001. They have utilized this system to identify and advance their efforts to improve environmental performance in waste reduction, recycling, energy savings and emissions reductions within the facility. By installing new technology that reclaims and reuses spent solvents, Phillips Automotive reduced its Volatile Organic Compound emissions by 58 tons and reduced its hazardous waste shipments from 1,462 gallons per month to 0 in 2008. Phillips Plastics Corporation incorporates a “People are Phillips Plastics” philosophy and actively engages and encourages employees through education, tree planting activities, recycling and waste reduction, and energy reduction both in plant and at home through their bulb change out programs. Under Green Tier, Phillips Automotive is requesting a flexible alternative air permit that provides pre-authorized opportunities to construct and operate. In return, the company will continue to actively manage their EMS to maintain ISO 14001 certification and manage environmental compliance activities in a manner that demonstrates superior environmental performance.
