3M Cumberland 
Green Tier - Tier 1 Participant
 The 3M Cumberland facility, located at 1640 Western Ave., Cumberland, Barron County, manufactures floor pads, lapping films, microfinishing films, superabrasives and the soft edge foam masking tape.
3M Corporate has a long standing commitment to sustainable development through environmental protection, social responsibility and economic progress. For example, from 1990 to 2008, the 3M Corporation achieved a 69% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, a 95% reduction in absolute volatile air emissions, and a 64% reduction in solid waste indexed to net sales.
Following Corporate environmental targets, the 3M Cumberland facility reduced energy consumption in 2008 by 398,771 kWh. 3M Cumberland achieves many savings by encouraging workers to submit creative ideas. One project alone, involving the use of compressed air, reduced energy consumption by $21,000 a year.
As a Green Tier participant, 3M Cumberland’s goals for 2010 are per pound of product to reduce waste by 20%, reduce volatile air emissions by 25%, and to improve energy efficiency by 20%.
