Spring Wildflower Walk

Pasqueflower

The first prairie flower to bloom is the pasqueflower. You can spot it blooming from early April to early May. After skunk cabbage, it's probably the next Wisconsin wildflower to bloom. This small plant hugs the ground and is found on dry sites. Pasque is the French word for Easter. Any ideas why it was given this name?
