"Ice-on, Ice-off"

[snow graphic] Be on the watch this winter for changing conditions on your local lake, river, or bay. We invite you to observe ice conditions to determine when a lake, river or bay reaches "ice-on" and "ice-off." "Ice-on" means a body of water freezes over and "ice-off" is the date when ice cover breaks up for the season.

  • Email EEK! and let us know when your "ice-on" or "ice-off" occurs. You may want to check historic records in your community to see if someone has recorded this information in the past.
