There are lots of things you can do to protect ground water. Any of the actions listed here will help.
A. Recycle used waste oil. Yes, you can recycle used engine oil at many gas stations. If your parents go to an oil change station, have them ask if the oil is recycled there.
B. Don't use too many lawn chemicals. Make sure your parents read the directions and use lawn chemicals only as needed. They can harm the groundwater if too much is applied.
C. Dispose of hazardous and household chemicals properly. Always take chemicals to a Clean Sweep drop off station or call your local DNR to find out the safest way to dispose of chemicals. They can really make you sick if they get into the groundwater.
