Northern Ringneck Snake

Status: special concern

length: 10-15 inches

This snake looks like the prairie ringneck snake in size and color. The difference is in the belly. This is the northern ringneck snake range map. The northern ringneck snake has a solid light yellow belly without any markings.

Unlike most other snakes, the northern ringneck makes its home in moist deciduous forests. There it eats earthworms, beetles, salamanders, frogs, and other small snakes.
