Butterfly Watching

Go slow, Stay low!

If you find a good butterfly spot, you'll want to get a closer look to enjoy their beauty and observe their activities. You'll be most successful at getting close to them if you remember these simple rules.

  • Go slow.
  • Stay low.
  • Don't jinx your approach by letting your shadow cross over the butterfly. This sudden change in lighting may frighten it.
  • Be patient.

You may work up a sweat as you quietly observe butterflies. Don't be surprised if a butterfly lands on you to sip your salty perspiration!

If you want to attract butterflies to your home, you can plant a butterfly garden and bring these critters right to your own backyard.
