"My First Northern"

I went on a trip up to Canada with a Boy Scout troop I am with. I had bought a new rod for the trip. The first trip on the lake we made I was using a minnow and dropped it directly below the boat 30 feet. Then, it started to rain and we heard tons of thunder. I reluctantly started to reel in my line when all of a sudden I had a huge tug that almost pulled me out of the boat. I fought that fish for over 10 minutes. When I finally got it on board my dad and I measured it. It was over 32 inches long. This monster northern was the first fish over a foot I had ever caught. Unfortunately, I had to put it back because it was in a protected slot. It was awesome!
