It's raining, it's pouring!!

Picture of a walleye

By:  Katie

One summer night in July my dad took me out fishing. We were half-way there and it started to rain. I thought, my gosh it was nice and sunny when we left, now it's raining!

When we got to the boat landing, it was steadily downpouring. By the time we were on the water it wasn't raining as hard. My dad put his rain gear on and I put my rain coat on. We went under a tree to shelter ourselves a little bit from the rain. Then it stopped... We saw a double rainbow! My dad said, "Guess what a double rainbow means?" I said, "What?" He said,"It means good luck." And by golly it did mean good luck!

Since it was raining I thought we would have a slow start. I said,"We're never gonna' catch a fish tonight." Then all of a sudden a rod started buzzing. I knew it, there was a bite. He was fiesty, that's for sure! But I managed to get him in the boat. To my surprise, it was a 27 and 3/4 inch walleye! With the yellowist belly.  I guess that that double rainbow did mean good luck!!

Thank you for the big fish story, Katie! Keep on fishing.
