Can You Guess?
By: Abby Ahlborn & Morgan Phillipich of Eagle River Elementary School

Can You Guess?

Iím usually very quiet but not always.
Nobody can live without me.
Iím one of natureís best friends,
but cars and gas hurt me,
we are like enemies.
Plants keep me going and I keep you going.

Can you guess what I am?

Answer: Air

Honorable Mentions

Air
By: Bryan Groshek of Amherst Elementary

Whoosh! Whirl!
These are the sounds I make.
What am I?
I blow down houses, I knock down trees.
What am I?
I blow leaves, I calm thoughts.
What am I?

I am the AIR!

I give you oxygen.
What am I?
I give plants carbon dioxide.
What am I?
You run and jump through me.
What am I?

I Am the AIR!

All you do is pollute me.
What am I?
You open factories that hurt me.
What am I?
I need your help now.
What am I?

I am the AIR!

Polluted / Clean
By: Rachel Laidlaw of Amherst Elementary

Polluted
I am the air,
The dark*, smoggy, polluted, air.
Stop doing this to me.**
Ride bikes, not cars.
Turn off the lights.***

* gasp
** sputter
***Breathe heavily

Clean
I am the air.
The clean, fresh, non-polluted, air.
I forgive you for polluting me!
You did what I said!
You turned out the lights!
You saved energy!
We can breathe!
I knew you could do it!
Ahhhhh.

Air Rap
By: Kai Smith of Amherst Elementary

Air is good for you and me,
I know it sounds weird, but itís not as crazy as it seems.
It may sound strange, but I just have to say
Without air we wouldnít be alive today!

Plants need air just like you and me,
Plants need airís carbon dioxide, see.
Animals itís true also need air,
Animals with scales, animals with hair.
Plants make the oxygen animals breathe,
Then take our CO2 into their leaves.

Engines need air to burn up all their fuel,
Fans move air to keep us really cool.
Kites need air to go up really high,
Planes need air to fly up in the sky.
Air is used to make soda bubble,
Without clean air our lungs would be in trouble.

Air can carry scents to our nose
You could smell a pizza, you could smell a rose.
Air can carry sounds to our ears,
Noises that are far, noises that are near.
Air can be strong and blow you away,
Air can be soft on a cool summer day.

When we pollute, there can be a lot of harm,
We need clean air to grow things on a farm.
There is stuff in the air that makes you sneeze,
That gives you asthma and makes you wheeze.
Pollution is the airís disease,
Pollution can come from factories.
It comes from carsí exhaust and smoke,
Making people cough, making people choke.

Something has to change, what should we do? Something can change, starting with YOU!

Conserve energy, do whatís right,
Itís easy, just turn off the lights.
If a place isnít very far,
Ride your bike, do not take your car.
Do not pollute, turn off the TV,
Do it for the people, do it for me.

This rap has been long, and I just have to sigh,
I guess without air we would all die.
