Objectives and Strategies for Goal 4

Goal 4: The Waste and Materials Management Program is efficient, effective, innovative and collaborative, and stakeholders view it as a leader in public health and environmental protection.

The Waste and Materials Management Program has set the following objectives that together enable us to achieve Goal 4:

• Objective 4.1: Fully implement program redesign within the 3 - 5 year timeframe. Our strategies include adjusting our program structure and operations; improving our decision-making; placing plan approvals on the Web; and supporting the Governor's Blue Ribbon Task Force on Waste Material Management.
• Objective 4.2: Provide timely, value-added reviews of solid and hazardous waste plan submittals. Our strategy is to complete on-time reviews for landfill siting and continued filling and to evaluate the value added from our review.
• Objective 4.3: By January 2007, establish a self-implementing non-landfill compliance program. Our strategy is to develop and environmental results program for printers and to implement current code requirements.
• Objective 4.4: Develop IT to support program objectives and strategies. Our strategies include improving the capability of our data applications which contain inspection and compliance data.
