The fenced-in contaminated area, known as the "seep", is located at the bottom of what used to be a ravine along the old lakefront in the City of Ashland. The Burlington Northern railroad is just behind the seep, and the NSP property is located above the hill. Kathy Allen from the Ashland Bayfield County League of Women Voters facilitates the October 5 public meeting. The LWV and the Sigurd Olson Environmental Institute have taken the lead on public involvement for the Ashland/NSP Lakefront Site. Henry Nehls Lowe from the Department of Health and Family Services briefs local residents about health issues at the Ashland/NSP Lakefront Site during the October 5 public meeting. Behind Henry is Jamie Dunn, the DNR's project manager for the site.
