MADISON – People interested in learning more about how to care for the health of Wisconsin’s lakes have two upcoming opportunities to join other lake enthusiasts in activities and workshops aimed at protecting and improving water and habitat quality in Wisconsin lakes.

Legend Lake Faire

A lake fair will be held from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, June 6, on the grounds of Legend Lake Lodge near Keshena. This event is free and coincides with Free Fishing Weekend and State Park Open House Day, during which no fishing licenses are required and there is free admission to all state parks.

The fair will provide an opportunity for a hands-on approach to lake issues and will emphasize family participation. Area lake organizations, state and county agencies and selected commercial vendors will come together to educate property owners and local residents on the many issues that comprise successful lake management. The theme for this event: Discover How You Fit Into the Puzzle.

Participants will be shown how to choose practices that decrease pollution, control invasive species, improve water quality, promote safety and maintain a strong, healthy lake for years to come.

Northwest Wisconsin Lakes Conference June 19

A Northwest Wisconsin Lakes Conference will be held Thursday and Friday, June 19 at Telemark Resort and Conference Center near Cable. The event runs from 7:30 a.m. to 3.45 p.m. and includes a variety of sessions centered on lake protection and conservation issues.
