Dickeyville looking to upgrade treatment plantNews Release Published: November 10, 2009 by the South Central Region Contact(s): Tom Gilbert, Wastewater Facility Planning Coordinator, Madison: (608) 267-7628 DICKEYVILLE – The Village of Dickeyville has requested approval from the Department of Natural Resources to construct improvements to their wastewater treatment facility. The Village may apply for a Wisconsin Clean Water Fund loan to help pay for the modifications. While this type of action normally does not involve significant adverse environmental effects, the DNR is soliciting public comments regarding the impacts of the proposal. Dickeyville is proposing to install new influent screening, digester blower motor, blowers, diffusers, mixer, and dissolved oxygen probe as part of upgrading the aeration system and controls for the activated sludge treatment process. These improvements are expected to provide some power cost savings and various operational benefits. The project has an estimated total capital cost of $395,000. Assuming a Clean Water Fund loan is obtained, it is anticipated that the typical residential sewer user rate would increase by $4.60 per month. For more information, contact Tom Gilbert, wastewater facility planning coordinator, at (608) 267-7628. Interested parties have until 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 25, 2009, to submit written or oral public comments on the project. Send comments to Mr. Gilbert at 101 S. Webster Street, Madison, WI 53702 or tom.gilbert@wisconsin.gov. Based on the comments received, the DNR may prepare an environmental analysis before proceeding with approval or denial of the proposal. The analysis would summarize the DNR’s consideration of the impacts of the proposal and reasonable alternatives. Last Revised: November 10, 2009
