Northern State Forest Assessments 1996-2001

In preparation for revising existing state forest master plans, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources embarked on an effort to analyze issues relevant to the Northern State Forests (NSFs), identifying new opportunities and challenges pertaining to management of these properties. The Department initiated a series of assessments to generate data that can be used to inform discussions and decisions in the planning processes. The assessments reflect issues that are in greatest need of additional information collection and analysis; other issues central to the planning process were not the subject of these assessments because the necessary base information already existed.
